AN APPEAL TO ALL PARISHIONERS!
Our biggest fundraiser every year, for almost 40 years, has been our June Festival which is now called our “Ukrainian Food Fest”. We usually make @$10,000 at this event! Due to Covid, as you well know, we have had to cancel ALL of our fundraisers since March 2020.
Thankfully, due to some generous Parishioners, we have been able to pay all of our mortgage, utility, tax, etc bills during the pandemic. It is now time for the rest of us to help with the restart of our Fundraisers.
We propose to hold our Ukrainian Food Fest on June 27 (Sunday) differently this year as Covid is still affecting some in our community. We are hoping to hold a 4 hr, Pre-Order/Pre-Paid TAKE OUT ONLY FOOD FEST. People will be asked to call in their orders by June 13 and choose a pick-up time between 1-2p, 2-3p, 3-4p, 4-5p. This will allow us to know exactly how much food we will need to prepare. Patrons will then come at their assigned time to pick up their order at the kitchen window and leave out of the back door allowing social distancing and no contact.
In order to be able to accomplish this, we need volunteers as follows: Wednesday (6/23) and/or Thursday (6/24) from 8:30a-?: Pyrohy workers including men who can lift heavy pots. We will need pinchers, onion choppers, potato ball makers, boiling the potatoes, packing the pyrohy. Friday (6/25) preparing the cabbage which includes coring them, cleaning them, etc. Saturday (6/26) we will be making the holubschi and packing them in the roaster to cook overnight. Sunday (6/27) we will need people to prepare the orders of platters and then serve them. Traffic Control help, Elderly help, and clean up at the end of the day will also be needed.
Over the next week, you will receive a call asking you to volunteer at one of the above times. If you can give us 2 hours or more one or more days leading up to Sunday, we would be so grateful. If we cannot get enough help, we will have to cancel the event. An announcement will be made next Sunday on the future of this Fundraiser. We appreciate the financial help received this year and hope that our fundraisers can resume with everyone’s help. PYROHY SALES: : We thank everyone that volunteered their valuable time this past Wednesday. In order to continue weekly sales though, we will need your continued help. God Bless Our Volunteers
